Design began in 1924 and production in 1925 at Rock Island.1 It wasn't ready for testing until May 1927.1 Testing was completed in April 1932.1 In 1928 it was recommended to standardize it as the Medium Tank M1, but the War Department changed its mind and it became just a test vehicle.1

Had the Packard engine.1

Used only for testing.

T1E1 Medium Tank

Had the Liberty engine installed and tested ventilation methods.1,3 It was rather long with a low profile hull. Its turret was mounted forward with a commanders cupola on top.1 It had armor protecting most of the running gear.1
