United States' Landing Vehicle Tracked, LVT(4)

The (A)(2) modified with a ramp operated by a hand winch. The engine was placed behind the driver's cab. Carry 30 troops or light vehicles or field guns. First used at Saipan in mid 1944. Mount on each side for a .30 or .50 cal MG.

Used in Europe by US Army.

Britain received 500 via lend lease. Used them in Northern Italy and at the Rhine crossing in 1945.
