Britain's Guy Armored Cars

Design

The Guy was the first 4 x 4 built for the British Army.2

Guy used welding construction that speeded up production.1

101 were built, but then Guy got involved in the production of other vehicles so production on the armored car was stopped.1 They however, continued to produce the hulls and turrets that were sent to the Karrier company for building the Humber armored car.1

It used four wheel drive without independent suspension.1

Chassis

The Guy was built on a Quad-Ant artillery tractor chassis.1,2

Engine

The engine was located at the rear of the Guy.2

Prototype

The Guy was selected after a long trial.1 The pilot used riveted construction.1
