Design
The Wellington GR.VIII had ASV (anti surface vessel) radar installed.1 There was also a Leigh Light to light up submarines on the surface at night.1
Usage
The Wellington GR.VIIIs were used by Australia, Britain, and Canada.1
First U-boat Kill
The first U-boat killed at night by a Wellington GR.VIII occurred in July 1942.1
