Italy's Autoblindo Mitragliatrice Lancia Ansaldo IZ Armored Car1:
World War I Use
The Lancia modello IZ started out as a truck that had a fireman's ladder mounted on the rear.1 These were used by 4"/102 mm units to observe fire.1
The Italian units used them against Austria-Hungary in the mountains.1 Along the Piave, 39 armored cars were used for reconnaissance.1
Some armored cars were sent to North Africa in 1917 and used for policing duties.1
Design
The driver sat at the front behind a sloping armored plate.1 The fighting compartment mounted a round turret with a single machine gun.1 Some vehicles had another smaller turret on top of the main turret.1 Some models carried two machine guns in the turret.1
Albanian Use
There were a few that were given to the Albanians.1
