8.8-cm KwK 361,
8.8-cm Kampfwagenkanone 36 1

Only the Tiger I used this gun.1

Design

The barrel had a double baffle muzzle brake to decrease the recoil.1 There were also hydraulic buffers with hydropneumatic recuperators to reduce the recoil.1 There was a large spring to the left in the turret to balance the gun.1

The breech was similar to the 75 mm L/43 and 75 mm L/48 guns.1

The gun was electrically fired.1

Ammunition

The KwK 36 used the same ammunition as the FlaK 18, FlaK 36, and FlaK 37, but it was named Panzergranate (Pzgr) to signify it was tank ammunition.1
