Prototypes
The Ju 88C prototype was first flown in 1939.3 It was powered by a Junkers Jumo 211B (1,200 HP) engine.3
Variants
- Ju 88C-0: Pre production.3 Were constructed from Ju 88A-1 frames.3 Guns were placed in a solid nose and a ventral gondola.3
- Ju 88C-1: Short wing.3 Had Junkers Jumo 211B engines.3
- Ju 88C-2: Longer wing.3 Had Junkers Jumo 211B engines.3
- Ju 88C-3: Had BMW 801 engines.3 Due to shortage of engines were not produced.3
- Ju 88C-4: Based on the Ju 88A-4 airframe.3 Ventral gondola could carry a 20 mm cannon or cameras.3
- Ju 88C-5: Had BMW 801 engines.3 Due to shortage of engines were not produced.3
- Ju 88C-6: Night fighter.3 First appeared in 1942.3 Had 20 mm cannon in the upper fuselage that fired upwards.3
- Ju 88C-6a: Heavy day fighter.3
- Ju 88C-6b: Night fighter introduced in 1942.2,3 Had Lichtenstein radar.2 Used FuG 202 or FuG 212 radar.3
Usage
The Ju 88Cs were used by Germany.3
Poland
A few pre production Ju 88Cs were used in the invasion of Poland.3
