Production
The Bf 109 B-1 was the first production model.2 The Bf 109 B-2 came next with a variable pitch propeller.2
The Bf 109D was produced until late 1938.2
Usage
Used by Germany, Hungary, Spain, and Switzerland.2
Spanish Civil War
Initially the Bf 109B was used, but the Bf 109C was sent in early 1938.2
Poland
About 300 of these early models took part in the invasion of Poland.2 These were soon replaced by the Bf 109 E and were used as trainers.2
