The Savoia-Marchetti S.M.82 was used by the Regia Aeronautica and the Luftwaffe during World War II. I've now added a page for it, but unfortunately don't have a photo. If anyone has one send it my way, please!

The Germans had intended the Junkers Ju 252 and Ju 352 to be replacements for the Junkers 52, but these were never produced in any quantities.

The Fairchild UC-61 Forwarder / Argus was produced in the United States but most (831 out of 994) were Lend Leased to Britain. The British named them Argus and used them for transport and communications.

The bigger cousin of the C-47 was the C-54 Skymaster. It was used throughout World War II to make ~80,000 ocean crossings with the loss of only three planes.

Probably the most versatile transport aircraft used by any country in World War II was the Douglas C-47. Used by Allied and Axis forces it was well liked for its durability and cargo capacity.

The Bristol Bombay had only 50 production models built. It was used in the Middle East and in England mostly as a transport, but sometimes as a bomber.

Not only did the pilots need training in the air, but so did the navigators and bombardiers. For the United States the plane that fulfilled this training the most was the Beechcraft AT-7 and AT-11. It was also used as the Beechcraft C-45 transport.

The United Kingdom's Avro York was not built in any large quantities, but they did transport some of the VIPs of Britain during World War II. King George VI, Winston Churchill, Lord Louis Mountbatten, Field-Marshal Smuts, Duke of Gloucester, and the Governor General of Australia.

The United Kingdom's Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle was originally designed to be a bomber, but it was quickly made obsolete by other designs and was turned into a transport and glider tug.

The Germans resorted to using large transports to try and supply some of their troops on the front lines in World War II. Unfortunately the Luftwaffe had lost control of the skies and these transports were often shot down. One such plane was the Messerschmitt Me 323.
I've added specifications for the Me 323D-6 model and additional information for the different variants.

The Germans were an early proponent of using airborne troops in World War II. To support those troops gliders were produced, and the Gotha Go 242 was one that was. Captured French engines were later installed to make the Go 244. I've added historical information and a couple photos.
