Now starting on the source that was my very first one used in building the site. Hoping to find some new tidbits to add that I didn't initially. Also to properly attribute it as a source.
I've now made some modifications to the Light Tanks used by the United Kingdom. More to come!

The Soviets kept on trying to improve their light tank designs. The next one was the T-70, which many felt wasn't an improvement over the T-60. The last one, the T-80 was built in small numbers in 1943. Unfortunately I don't have much information on it.

The T-40 was a decent amphibious reconnaissance vehicle that was too often, used as a regular tank. The T-60 was a much better light tank that was easier to build in large numbers. I've added some historical and specification updates.

Here's the next set of light tank updates for the Soviet Union.

I'm starting through another source of Soviet armored vehicles and these are the updates so far:

I'm still working my way through updating Soviet vehicles used during World War II.

The Soviets made use of thousands and thousands of light tanks during World War II. I've made some updates to these:

Over 12,000 T-26s were constructed before World War II. It was used in the Spanish Civil War, in Finland, and against the Japanese.

Ok, added some more additions to the Soviet pages tonight. Here they are:
Going to bed now, so good night!

I decided to crack open a couple sources that I haven't looked at in a couple years. One to update the sources and see if I can glean any additional information out of the books. Here's the first set of updates:

Last of the specification updates for the Soviets is now done! Whew! Don't worry there will be more updates! The T-70 and T-80 light tanks finish it off for this round.

Have added additional specification information for the Soviet T-60 light tank.

Working my way through some sources on Poland. So far have added additional divisions, information on the TKS, and the 7 TP. I'm also still working on historical information.

The Type 95 Ha-Go light tank had several thousand produced and was used all over the Pacific and mainland Asia.
Labels: japan, light tank, world war ii
Unfortunately I have very little information on the Type 93 Light Tank.
Labels: japan, light tank, world war ii
The T-50 was found to take as much effort as it was to build a medium tank so it was never put into major production like many of the other Soviet light tanks in World War II.

Most models of the T-40 were amphibious. Probably under 500 were produced.

The T-46 was similar to the T-26, but had the familiar Christie suspension that many Soviet designs had.

The Soviets built nearly 12,000 T-26 light tanks that were used in the Spanish Civil War and in the war with Finland.

Continuing with the progression of Soviet designs, next came the T-38, which was also an amphibian.

The Soviets, more so than any other country during World War II, developed a long line of light amphibious tanks. Which seems to make sense since the Soviet Union did have a lot of areas crisscrossed by water without roads, so to get quickly around those obstacles an amphibious tank was used. One of the earliest models was the T-37.

Despite some impressions given, the Soviet Union did develop specialized armored vehicles during World War II. One of these was the modification of the T-26, the OT-130 flame thrower. It was in the border wars with the Japanese and in the invasion of Finland.

The Soviet Union was able to out produce the Germans in light tanks during World War II. The T-70s had over 8,200 produced, numbers that the Germans could only dream of.
I've now added another picture.

Another light tank the Soviets used in World War II was the T-60. Though not a new photo, it's a better one than the one I had previously.

The Soviets had several amphibious light tank designs that were used during World War II. One of these was the T-40.

The M22 Locust was intended to be used by airborne forces. However, the Americans didn't have gliders large enough to transport them. The British did, and used the Locust in combat.

Not only was the M24 Chaffee an excellent light tank, but it led the way in producing a "combat team" of military vehicles that would share the same chassis, thus simplifying maintenance and supply.
I've made some minor additions and reorganized the page.
Labels: light tank, united states, world war ii
I've now updated the page for the M5 Light Tank I've also split out the the page for the M5A1.

The M3 Light Tank was probably used by all the major Allied powers during World War II along with some captured ones being used by Axis forces as well. I've updated and broken out the different models of the M3.

A tank that was primarily used for training was the M2 Light Tank. It did see some limited combat in the Pacific.
I've updated and broken out the different models to their own pages.

All tank forces had to begin with elementary designs at some point and one of the more successful early designs used by the United States Army was the Combat Car M1. In actuality it was a tank, but it had to be called a Combat Car to get by Congressional restrictions on tank development.
I've now added some minor historical updates.

During the past couple of days I've been updating the PzKpfw II light tank pages. Reorganized the photos, added additional historical and specification information for some of the different models.
Labels: germany, light tank, world war ii
Originally intended to only be a training tank, nevertheless, the German Panzerkampfwagen I was used in combat due to the inadequate numbers of better tanks in the Panzer units. They were used in Poland, France, and the early phases of Barbarossa before they were withdrawn from front line units. Many of them were converted into other uses, such as self propelled artillery or antitank weapons.

I've added some specification information for the Type 95 Ha-Go.
Labels: japan, light tank, world war ii
Added some additional historical information on Japan's Type 98 and Type 2 Light Tanks.

I've been doing a bunch of updates to several Japanese pages over the weekend:

I've now added several photos of prototypes that never made it out of the T Designation prototype stage.
