Germany's Tables of Organization and Equipment (TOE) added divisions
I've added the TOEs of Volksgrenadier, 1939 Panzer, and 1941 Panzer divisions.
Labels: germany, table of organization and equipment, world war ii
I've added the TOEs of Volksgrenadier, 1939 Panzer, and 1941 Panzer divisions.
Labels: germany, table of organization and equipment, world war ii
I've added TOEs for the 1939 and 1944 Infantry Divisions. These are by no means complete of everything a division had, or even based on the reality of the front lines. But it does give what was intended to be the makeup of the particular unit.
Labels: germany, table of organization and equipment, world war ii
I've added some photos that are from the Bundesarchiv that were posted on Usenet of the Messerschmitt Bf 110.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The most well known tank of World War II, and the one that the mere mentioning it's name would cause fear, was the Tiger. The Russians first encountered, and captured one outside of Leningrad when Hitler prematurely had them sent to the front. The British and Americans encountered them in Tunisia with the British capturing one.
Here's a picture of one with the Gross Deutschland Division.
Labels: germany, heavy tank, world war ii
The Germans, quite successfully, used dive bombers for close support of the Wehrmacht in World War II. One of the most widely known is the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka.
I've added some additional photos.
Labels: dive bomber, germany, world war ii
The Germans fielded some very excellent aircraft at the beginning of the war, but couldn't keep up with the newer bomber designs that the Allies fielded. The Germans relied, primarily, on the Heinkel He 111 bomber throughout the war. The German military's mindset was aircraft that would support the army, not take large loads of bombs against the factories of the enemy.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
And to not leave prop planes out, I've added several photos of the Messerschmitt Bf 109.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've added a couple of photos of the amazing Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The tank that was intended to be the main battle tank for the German forces was the PzKpfw V "Panther". It may have been one of the best tanks of World War II with it's powerful main armament, excellent armor protection, and decent speed. Luckily for the Allies, they were never produced in large numbers.
Labels: germany, medium tank, world war ii
I've now updated the specification information for the PzKpfw IV Ausf F2 and the PzKpfw IV Ausf J.
Labels: germany, medium tank, world war ii
The mainstay of the German army was the PzKpfw IV medium tank, despite other tanks that receive much more recognition (Tiger and Panther).
Labels: germany, medium tank, world war ii
I finished adding specification information for the PzKpfw III Ausf B, Ausf G, and Ausf N.
Also made a couple minor updates to the PzKpfw III production page.
Labels: germany, medium tank, world war ii
During the past couple of days I've been updating the PzKpfw II light tank pages. Reorganized the photos, added additional historical and specification information for some of the different models.
Labels: germany, light tank, world war ii
Originally intended to only be a training tank, nevertheless, the German Panzerkampfwagen I was used in combat due to the inadequate numbers of better tanks in the Panzer units. They were used in Poland, France, and the early phases of Barbarossa before they were withdrawn from front line units. Many of them were converted into other uses, such as self propelled artillery or antitank weapons.
Labels: germany, light tank, world war ii
Yep, you guessed it! More of the German divisions updated! They sure had tons during World War II, but one has to remember, many were in name only and never was close to having a full complement of soldiers to make up a divisional sized unit.
One wonders if having all those divisions placated someone's ego in thinking there were a large number of soldiers at the front when in each of the divisions there may have in reality only been a battalion?
Labels: germany, units, world war ii
Ok, ok, so I keep going on the German divisional units! Well I find it so amaizing how many units the Germans fielded! I've now broken the list down into different pages as it was getting way too large!
Labels: germany, units, world war ii
I've added some additional words / phrases to the German glossary.
Labels: germany, glossary, world war ii
Finished adding the infantry, airborne, light, mountain, and Luftwaffe division! Seemed like the list would never end as there are so many!
Labels: germany, units, world war ii
Still going on adding the German divisions. Up to the 275th Inf Div, with probably another 100 - 150 to go!
Labels: germany, units, world war ii
I've started to add the divisions that Germany fielded during World War II. I've only added Panzer, Panzer-Grenadier, Cavalry, and a few Infantry divisions so far. There are "tons" so it's going to take a bit to get them added.
Labels: germany, units, world war ii
I've added updates for several of the Aces of these countries:
Finland: Aces
France: Aces
Germany: Aces
United Kingdom: Aces
United States: Aces
Labels: aces, finland, france, germany, united kingdom, united states, world war ii
I've reorganized and corrected the identity of photos for the Marder I, Marder II, and Marder III. I've also added some minor new historical and design information.
Labels: germany, tank destoyer, world war ii
I've added a bunch of new German words and phrases to the German glossary.
Labels: germany, world war ii
I've started a list of German Aces in World War II. I've only started with the ones that were Knight's Cross recipients with the Jagdgeschwader 7 "Nowotny" unit in the last months of World War II.
Labels: aces, germany, world war ii
I've added some new production and tank loss data for the following:
50 mm PAK 38, 75 mm PAK 40, Tank Data, SdKfz 250, SdKfz 251
Labels: germany, world war ii
I've now added additional information on the Lorraine Schlepper 15cm FH13.
Labels: germany, self propelled gun, world war ii
It was supposed to be replaced by the SdKfz 222 by 1939 but the Kfz 13 was still available in large numbers.
I've added some specifications, historical information, and a new photo.
Labels: armored car, germany, world war ii
The well liked Hummel self propelled gun offered the German military a large mobile punch.
I've now added more information and reorganized the photos.
Labels: germany, self propelled gun, world war ii
I've now made some updates for Germany's 15cm sIG 33 auf PzKpfw 38(t) Grille series.
Labels: germany, self propelled gun, world war ii
The Germans wanted a close support vehicle that carried a 15 cm howitzer. The Brummbär "Grizzly Bear" was developed.
I've added some additional information and better organized it.
Labels: germany, self propelled gun, world war ii
Now that I'm back to updating the vehicle pages, I'm trying to better organize them and rewrite some of them to make more sense. Thus updates will move along, but just won't be as many as there was when I was just adding planes.
I've now made updates to the PzKpfw IV. Specifically the PzKpfw IV Ausf F1, PzKpfw IV Ausf F2, and PzKpfw IV production.
Labels: germany, medium tank, world war ii
The Germans developed the largest glider used in World War II for cargo, it was the Me 321. I've added a new page for it.
Labels: germany, glider, world war ii
The successor to the failed Me 210 was the Me 410. I've updated the specifications and historical information on my page.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've added new specifications and production information for the Me 210. It was one of the bigger flops that made it to the Messerschmitt production lines.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The Me 163 was one of the more radical of planes used during World War II. It could attain fast speeds due to its rocket engine, but could only stay in the air for about 8 minutes.
I've updated my page with additional specs and historical info.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've added a lot of specification information for the Bf 110 and have broken it out into separate pages.
Labels: fighter, germany, night fighter, world war ii
I've added some additional information for the little produced, only 66, Junkers Ju 290.
Labels: germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
The Germans had intended the Junkers Ju 252 and Ju 352 to be replacements for the Junkers 52, but these were never produced in any quantities.
I've added a new page for them with photos.
Labels: germany, transport, world war ii
I've now added the Junkers Ju 388. The variant that was produced in the largest quantity was the Ju 388L, photo reconnaissance, version.
Labels: germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
The Junkers Ju 188 was a follow up to the Ju 88.
I've now added some new information.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
I've added a ton of new information for the Junkers Ju 88 series of German aircraft. So much that I've had to break apart the main page into several separate pages.
Labels: bomber, fighter, germany, night fighter, reconnaissance, world war ii
The Junkers Ju 87 was widely used for close support of the German military. Unfortunately it required air superiority to be used successfully. I've added quite a bit of info on variants and specifications.
Labels: dive bomber, germany, world war ii
The Junkers Ju 86 was one of the first bombers used by the Luftwaffe. However, it didn't perform as well and was moved to secondary duties. The Ju 86 was later made into a very high altitude reconnaissance version with much success.
Labels: bomber, germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
The most prolific German transport of World War II was the Junkers Ju 52.
I've added more specification information for the Ju 52.
Labels: germany, transport, world war ii
The Hs 129 could have been the premier anti-tank aircraft of World War II except it had many engine troubles.
I've now updated my page with additional specifications, production, and variant information.
Labels: close support, germany, world war ii
Production of the Hs 123 ended before World War II, but it was good at doing close support, there were some that wanted to restart production during the war.
I've updated my page with additional specification and production information.
Labels: close support, germany, world war ii
I've now added a page for the Heinkel He 100D fighter. Though it performed very well, the Luftwaffe choose to stick with the Bf 109.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
Fortunately for the Allies, Germany never had a successful heavy bomber in their arsenal. The only one that received any amount of production was the flawed Heinkel He 177 Greif.
I've made some additions to my page.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
As the German situation was becoming critical it was decided to design and build a jet plane that was to be flown by Hitler Youth that had been trained in gliders. It was the Heinkel He 162.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've added some additional specifications information for the different models of the Heinkel He 115.
Labels: floatplane, germany, world war ii
I've updated my page for the He 111 with a lot of new information.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
Inspired by the British Mosquito, the Germans developed the Focke-Wulf Ta 154 Moskito. It was to be a night fighter constructed primarily of wood. However, there were faults with the glue used so no more than around 75 Ta 154s were constructed.
Labels: germany, night fighter, world war ii
I've added some additional specification information for the Fw 200.
Labels: germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
Another set I picked up recently was the Forces of Valor 95210 German SdKfz 251, PaK 40, and soldier set. Although not as good a quality as a Dragon SdKfz 251, it is still very appealing just because of its cost and that you have soldiers to go along with it (though I didn't take them out of box and thus no pictures).
Labels: germany, model tank, world war ii
The Forces of Valor 95701 King Tiger that I picked up at my local Target is a nice addition. It also comes with 8 American and German soldiers. It's definitely not the best in models, but for the price it's a good value.
Labels: germany, model tank, world war ii
I've added two more Easy Models, the 36284 and 36287.
Labels: germany, model tank, world war ii
If a fighter could be considered "hot", in my opinion the Ta 152 has to be one of the "hottest" fighters produced during World War II.
I've made some minor additions to my web page.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've made a lot of additions for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 series.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've updated the specifications and variation information for the Fw 189 Uhu.
Labels: germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
The Germany's produced one of the most interesting propeller driven fighter planes of World War II, the Dornier Do 335 Pfiel. It had excellent performance, but it came too late in the war and was produced in too small of numbers to make a difference.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've added a couple pictures for the Pak 38 and Pak 40.
Labels: anti-tank guns, germany, world war ii
I've added a photo that has the FlaK 18 and FlaK 36 in it.
Labels: anti-aircraft guns, germany, world war ii
I've added a photo of the Schwere Panzerspähwagen (7.5cm) (SdKfz 233).
Labels: armored car, germany, world war ii
I've now added much new information on the Dornier Do 217. I also had to add a separate page for the Do 217 night fighters.
Labels: bomber, germany, night fighter, world war ii
The Dornier Do 24 flying boat's page has now been updated with additional specifications, production data, and historical information.
Labels: flying boat, germany, world war ii
The Dornier Do 18 flying boat's page has now been updated.
Labels: flying boat, germany, world war ii
I've added more specifications and historical data for the Dornier Do 17. There was so much that I had to split out the Do 17 reconnaissance to have their own page.
Labels: bomber, germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
I've added a photo of a PzKpfw IV that was captured in North Africa.
Labels: germany, medium tank, world war ii
I've added a couple photos of the Junkers Ju 87. One photo is of a Ju 87 that was used by the Italians and then captured by the British.

I've added a couple photos of a Tiger that was used in North Africa and was captured by the Allies.
Labels: germany, heavy tank, world war ii
Taking part in some of the most audacious operations in World War II was the DFS 230 assault glider. It took part in the capture of Fort Eben Amael and the rescue of Mussolini.
Labels: germany, glider, world war ii
The Germans deployed the most massive flying boat used in World War II. It was the Blohm und Voss Bv 222. Very few were made but they were used a lot.
I've now updated the specifications information for the Bv 222
Labels: flying boat, germany, world war ii
Just about anywhere you would find a large body of water under German control in World War II you'd find the Blohm and Voss Bv 138 flying boat being used for reconnaissance as well as other duties.
I've now updated my web page with primarily additional variant information.
Labels: flying boat, germany, world war ii
The first jet bomber in history was the German Arado Ar 234 Blitz.
I've updated my web page for it.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
Probably the most produced German trainer in World War II was the Arado Ar 96. It was so popular that two companies produced them after World War II.
I've added a new page for the Ar 96 to my web site.
Labels: germany, trainer, world war ii
The Germans resorted to using large transports to try and supply some of their troops on the front lines in World War II. Unfortunately the Luftwaffe had lost control of the skies and these transports were often shot down. One such plane was the Messerschmitt Me 323.
I've added specifications for the Me 323D-6 model and additional information for the different variants.
Labels: germany, transport, world war ii
One of the most advanced fighters developed during World War II was the German Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. However, by the time it got to the front lines Germany's situation was beyond hope. There weren't enough pilots let alone fuel to use the Me 262 in combat effectively.
I've added the specifications for the Me 262A-1a variant and some additional information on the other variants produced.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The Germans came up with a design to replace the inadequate Bf 110 heavy fighter, the Messerschmitt Me 210. It to was inadequate and then the Messerschmitt Me 410 was developed and used.
I've added pages and photos for each, though I don't have much info on the Me 210 yet.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The only country to get jet and rocket planes in combat in World War II was Germany. The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet was a rocket powered fighter that did see action against the allies. Due to their high speed and few numbers they did not have much physical affect on the allies.
I've now added a page to my site for the Me 163 Komet.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The German's tried to develop a heavy fighter in the Messerschmitt Bf 110 that did see some early success, but when it went up against up-to-date fighters it had to be withdrawn from frontline service due to heavy losses.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
The top German fighter in the early years of World War II was the Messerschmitt Bf. 109. It had it's start in the Spanish Civil War and was produced until the end with around 33,000 planes produced. I've added listings of the variants and added specifications for the Bf 109G.
Labels: fighter, germany, world war ii
I've added more information on the different variants that the Junkers Ju 188 was produced in during World War II.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
Often in World War II the planes were used for multiple roles, but the German Junkers Ju 88 may have been used in the most roles. It was a low, medium, and high level bomber. It was used as a night fighter and intruder. Over the ocean it could be used as a torpedo bomber. It was even a tank fighter and was sometimes used as a pilotless missile.
Labels: bomber, germany, world war ii
The plane that caused much terror on civilians and soldiers alike during World War II was the German Junkers Ju 87 Stuka.
Labels: dive bomber, germany, world war ii
I've added some additional information on the German Junkers Ju 52 transport that was used throughout World War II.

I've updated the page for the German reconnaissance aircraft used during World War II, the Henschel Hs 126.
Labels: germany, reconnaissance, world war ii
The Henschel Hs 123 was obsolete before World War II, but it was so popular on the eastern front that some wanted even more of them produced. I've added some additional historical information.
Labels: close support, germany, world war ii
The German Heinkel He 219 Uhu ("Owl") was used with great success against the allies under the cover of night. I've added additional information to my web page.
Labels: germany, night fighter, world war ii
