Japan's Yokosuka D4Y Suisei dive bomber, "Judy" updated

Though the Japanese started World War II out with some excellent aircraft, they weren't always able to keep up with the latest advances that the Americans were able to produce. The Yokosuka D4Y Suisei "Comet" dive bomber was an ok dive bomber that ended up being used in the Kamikaze role.

The Germans, quite successfully, used dive bombers for close support of the Wehrmacht in World War II. One of the most widely known is the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka.

United States' Vultee Vengeance dive bomber added

The dive bomber craze resulted in the RAF wanting a dive bomber of their own. Eventually this resulted in the Vultee Vengeance being developed. However it didn't live up to expectations and was relegated to being a target tug.

United States' Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber update

The aircraft that was instrumental in what was the turning point in the Pacific War was the Douglas SBD Dauntless. It was key in the sinking of the four Japanese carriers at Midway. I've now updated specifications and historical information.

The Japanese used a German design and engine for their Yokosuka D4Y Suisei dive bomber. Unfortunately it came at a time when the Americans had almost total air superiority and the D4Y wasn't as effective as it could have been.

United States' Vought SB2U Vindicator added

During the 1930s many military aircraft designs were transitioning from biplanes to monoplanes. The Vought SB2U Vindicator was one of those pioneering monoplane designs that ended up being primarily used as a trainer in World War II, though it did see some limited combat early on.
